LECTURE BY BERNIE BEALES - April 10 - 7:00-9:00 pm - "Explore, Extend, Expand ...Enrich!"
This workshop will address the kinds of activities both parents and teachers can implement to enrich the educational experiences of bright, gifted or high achieving children. We will take a look at how to introduce independent research skills, critical thinking skills and creative thinking skills to very young children and then demonstrate how these can be incorporated by older students to go above and beyond traditional classroom lessons.
Bernard Beales is the Facilitator for Gifted Programs with the Durham District School Board. He is responsible for providing enrichment suggestions for teachers who wish to program more effectively for their bright students from kindergarten to grade 12. Bernie has been teaching for 31 years and is a sought-after presenter at local, provincial and international conferences. In addition to teaching, Bernie also co-founded The Drama Club, a private enterprise that provided theatrical opportunities for children. Bernie is also a co-author of a successful set of math textbooks.
